PURPOSE:

To give the approval of the Global Encroachment Agreement between the City of Greensboro and NC A&T Real Estate Foundation.

 

BACKGROUND:

NC A&T Real Estate Foundation approached the City in order to ask for a Global Encroachment Agreement to install fiber optic to serve North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. The purpose of this request is to extend fiber optic cabling from existing fiber network to serve North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. The North Carolina A&T Real Estate Foundation will own all fiber and pathways. Total occupation in City right-of-way is 2,030 linear feet at minimum depth of 36”- 48”. In order to connect fiber optics it is necessary to directional bore under the street.

 

Information Technology and Engineering & Inspections have approved this placement of communication connectivity.

BUDGET IMPACT:

There is no budget impact.

 

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

It is recommended that City Council grant the Global Encroachment Agreement between NC A&T Real Estate Foundation and the City of Greensboro.
