PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department is requesting to enter into a contract with Watkins Diane, Inc. dba Atlas Fence Company to remove an existing perimeter fence and replace with a new fence at the Townsend Water Treatment Plant. City Council approval of a contract in the amount of $111,326.41 is requested.
BACKGROUND:
The existing perimeter fence at the Townsend Water Treatment Plant is currently in need of replacement to ensure proper security for the facility. The contractor will install approximately 3,390 linear feet of chain link fencing eight feet high with one foot of barbed wire at the top around perimeter of the plant. The project includes the removal and disposal of the old fencing. A request for bids was sent to vendors including all MWBE vendors supplied by the MWBE office. The bid deadline was extended beyond 90 days so additional outreach to vendors could be performed. Watkins Diane, Inc. dba Atlas Fence Company was the lowest responsive, responsible bidder. No bids were received from MWBE vendors.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding for this project is budgeted in the Water Resources Enterprise Fund account 501-7025-01.5612 in the amount of $111,326.41.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Water Resources Department recommends and requests that City Council approve the contract with Watkins Diane, Inc. dba Atlas Fence Company for the Perimeter Fence Replacement contract in the amount of $111,326.41.
