PURPOSE:
City Council approval is requested for a change order to Contract 2017-055B for the construction and up-fit of 2305 Soabar Street, a joint project between Water Resources and the Police Department. In order to complete the work required for the project, approval is requested for this change order with A Vogt Construction, a minority business contractor, for $44,610.25.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were accepted and opened on October 2, 2018 for the interior renovations and the apparent lowest, responsible bidder was A Vogt Construction (MBE) with a bid of $1,052,000. The contract was value engineered to $940,447.
For CO #1 item #1 the electrician is MBE
For CO #1 item #2 is Non-MWBE
For CO #1 items #3-6 are self-performed by the contractor, who is an MBE.
This work consists of installing fire sprinklers, electrical and flooring changes, adding an emergency door, as well as cosmetic changes. The original contract amount is $940,447 and approval of this change order request in the amount of $44,610.25 will make the new contract value $985,057.25.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds for this change order will be housed in 220-3579-03.6013.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is requested that City Council approve this change order for $44,610.25 on contract 2017-055B to A Vogt Construction.
