PURPOSE:
Volkert, Inc. was selected to provide construction inspection for the Ballinger Road Bridge #98 Replacement Project. City Council approval of the professional services contract with Volkert, Inc. in the amount of $325,962.29 is requested.
BACKGROUND:
This project includes replacement of the existing bridge along with roadway widening, asphalt overlay, and associated erosion control items.
Our four on-call Consultant Engineering Inspections (CEI) professional services firms were considered for this project. Prime consideration was given to their past experience and performance with projects involving streetscape work, bridges, sidewalks, roadway configuration, traffic analysis, landscaping, utility design, and public participation. As a result of the analysis by the Transportation and Engineering & Inspections Departments, Volkert, Inc. was selected for the project.
The roadway work is to begin by spring 2020 and is to be completed by summer 2021.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds for the professional services contract are available in the Street and Sidewalk Capital Project Fund account 401-4562-01.6014 A19193.
This is a Federal Funded contract and is subject to 80% reimbursement by the FHWA.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Engineering & Inspections and Transportation Departments recommend authorizing the award in the amount of $325,962.29 for the Ballinger Road Bridge #98 Replacement Project to Volkert, Inc.
