PURPOSE:
The Property Management Section of the Engineering and Inspections Department is in the process of selling surplus land located at 3805 YY N. Elm Street parcel #91233. It has been determined that there is no municipal need for the property. City Council approval is requested to proceed with the sale of the property to the North Carolina Department of Transportation for the purpose of a sidewalk for NCDOT’s U-2525 C Project, the Urban Loop.
BACKGROUND:
The portion of property to be sold is a leftover remnant of Right-of-Way. An offer of $14,125 was accepted from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). The required Right-of-Way to be purchased consists of 17,424 Sq. Ft. (.40 Acres) and Temporary Construction Easement of 1,437 Sq. Ft. (.033 Acres). The sale is in accordance with Section 4:124 of the City Code of Ordinances, “Sale or Exchange of Excess Property”. The property is zoned CU-PDM, Planned Development Mixed Use.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The proceeds from the sale of this property will be credited to Parks and Recreation Sale of Real Estate Account #101-5002-01.8616.
RECOMMENDATION/ACTION REQUESTED:
The Property Management Section of the Engineering and Inspections Department recommends that City Council approve and authorize the sale of property located at 3805 YY N. Elm Street.
