PURPOSE:
The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department has received a "Meet Me at the Park" Play Spaces grant from the National Recreation and Park Association in coordination with the Walt Disney Company, in the amount of $30,000 to support the Brightwood Neighborhood Park. To accept the grant and add the appropriate matching funds to the account, a budget amendment is requested from Greensboro City Council in accordance with current city fiscal procedures.

BACKGROUND:
The National Recreation and Park Association, in collaboration with the Walt Disney Company, expanded the Meet Me at the Park program by awarding grants to local communities that provide new opportunities for inclusive play and physical activity for kids and families.

The grant was one of 25 distributed to communities nationwide as part of the "Meet Me at the Park" campaign, where park and recreation agencies were invited to share their best ideas on increasing access to inclusive play spaces for children and families in underserved communities. Agencies with the most innovative, scalable and impactful project ideas received grants to build their projects.

Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department will create an adventure trail with interactive activities at Brightwood Neighborhood Park.
