PURPOSE:
City Council is being requested to approve the award of Contract 2018-031 to Recreational Ventures, Inc. (dba Court One) for the renovation of seven community tennis sites for the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Greensboro.

BACKGROUND:
Funding for improvements to City-wide community tennis courts was included in the 2016 voter-approved Parks and Recreation Bond package. Execution of this contract allows for reconstruction, renovation, and ADA accessibility improvements to be made at Peeler Community Park (2 courts), Smith Community Park (2 courts), Woodlea Acres Park (2 courts), Dudley High School (8 courts), and Page High School (8 courts). In addition, included in the contract is the resurfacing and renovation of existing tennis courts located at Lake Daniel Park (3 courts) and Sunset Hills Park (1 court).

Currently, the Parks and Recreation Department does not have any outdoor pickleball courts and, as such, three sites have been identified for either conversion to pickleball or adding additional lines for dual tennis/pickleball use. Smith Community Park currently has two outdoor tennis courts that will be converted to six outdoor pickleball courts. Woodlea Acres Park has two tennis courts that will be converted to four outdoor pickleball courts.
