PURPOSE: Amend Chapter 10, section 10-21(d) of the Greensboro Code of Ordinances with respect to Fire Prevention and Protection to increase the fee for providing proprietary "Compliance Engine" software service to all commercial occupancies in the City of Greensboro to collect, organize and store all code required third party inspection and testing records from ten dollars ($10.00) to twelve dollars ($12.00) per system, per year. The City of Greensboro has used an outside company, Brycer, LLC, to collect all required information from commercial businesses required to submit monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reporting. A Resolution is necessary approving a three (3) year extension to the contract with Brycer, LLC and amending a provision of the contract with respect to Notice.

BACKGROUND: The Greensboro Fire Department, Life Safety Division, is responsible for ensuring that all fire suppression, fire detection and other life safety systems installed in commercial establishments has used the services of Brycer, LLC since May 30, 2013 to ensure all fire suppression, fire detection and other life safety systems installed in commercial establishments are up to date and functioning correctly. The Fire Department requested the code amendment in 2013 because Brycer, LLC offered to provide the service and charge the businesses the fee annually per fire system reported on.
