PURPOSE:
The bids for Contract 2018-051B, Davie Street Streetscape Storm and Water Improvements Project, have been received. In order for the work to proceed on this contract, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to Yates Construction Company, Inc. for $1,097,552.54.
BACKGROUND:
The work in this contract generally consists of installation of approximately 610 linear feet of storm sewer and 790 linear feet of water line along South Davie Street at the February One Place intersection. This project also serves to upgrade these utilities in this area for the larger upcoming Davie Street Streetscape Project.
The bids were opened on May 13, 2021, and the apparent lowest, responsive bidder was Yates Construction Company, Inc. with a bid of $1,097,552.54. The MWBE goals for this project are 5.0% MBE and 7.0% WBE. The contractor's commitments are 5.0% MBE and 7.0% WBE.
The other responsive bid received was:

The proposed date for start of construction is August 2021. The proposed date of completion is December 2021.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $1,097,554.00 are budgeted for this project in two separate accounts. $495,416.00 is budgeted in the Water Resources Water Lines account number 503-7030-01.6016 A21039 and $602,138.00 is budgeted in the Transportation Department Downtown Streetscape account number 484-2201-04.6019 A17127.
