PURPOSE:
City Council approval is requested to authorize the City Manager to negotiate and execute a contract extension with Educational Data Systems, Inc in an amount not to exceed $1,376,250 to fund Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Adult and Dislocated Worker Services through June 30, 2022.

BACKGROUND:
The Workforce Development Board/City of Greensboro has contracted with Educational Data Systems, Inc to provide comprehensive workforce services for Adults and Dislocated Workers since July 2020.

Educational Data Systems, Inc has performed its contract responsibilities and met benchmarks at an acceptable level to date. On April 1, 2021, the Workforce Development Board voted to extend the contract through June 30, 2022 at a cost not to exceed $1,376,250 for the period of July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2022.

MWBE approval has been granted on this request.

BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds for this contract modification will be budgeted in the Office of Workforce Development Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act 2021-22 accounts, pending receipt of allocations from the NC Department of Commerce (estimated May 2021). All funds to be utilized are US Department of Labor funds passed through the NC Department of Commerce. No General Revenue funds are requested.
