PURPOSE: The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded a third round of supplemental funding through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) that requires programming in the 2019-2020 Annual Action Plan.

 

BACKGROUND: The fourth Substantial Amendment to the 2019-2020 Action Plan includes the following Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) allocation and program funding awarded through the CARES Act:

 

Third CARES Act Funding for the City of Greensboro ($1,611,310)

Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus (CDBG-CV): $1,611,310

 

Proposed Uses of Third CARES Act Funds:

Homelessness Prevention in the form of stabilization services, supportive housing, and/or to new HUD-eligible activities based on the community needs to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the Coronavirus pandemic.

 

BUDGET IMPACT: $1,611,310 in new federal CDBG-CV CARES Act grant funds will be available to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the Coronavirus pandemic in Greensboro.

 

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED: Request that Council adopt the attached resolution to authorize the programming and use of CDBG Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) funding.
