PURPOSE:
An ordinance needs to be approved to increase the budget for an amended agreement with NCDOT for EL-5101 DJ Downtown Greenway Phase 2.
BACKGROUND:
The City is currently in the later stages of construction of this NCDOT supported greenway and roadway improvement project along Murrow Boulevard and Fisher Avenue. Per City request, NCDOT has agreed to provide additional funding at this time to support additional costs required to complete the project and the contracted engineering inspections work associated with it. The additional costs include previously unidentified but necessary repairs to the bridge over Church Street. This Agreement specifies the reimbursement amount and the steps the City must following in order to receive the funding.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding for this project will be increased as follows:
$3,560,278 (80%) Federal Funds
$ 890,069 (20%) Local Matching Funds
$4,450,347
Funding for the local match will come from 2016 Parks and Recreation Bond Fund account 482-5001-02.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Transportation Department recommends and requests approval of the attached ordinance increasing the budget for an amended agreement with NCDOT for EL-5101 DJ Downtown Greenway Phase 2.
