PURPOSE:
City Council approval is requested to convey a Permanent Utility Easement to Duke Energy in order for Duke Energy to install a new underground transmission line to service new electrical facilities at the Mitchell Water Treatment Facility.
BACKGROUND:
The Permanent Utility Easement is needed from the City of Greensboro in order to provide new underground transmission lines to the new electrical facilities for the expansion of the Mitchell Water Treatment Facility.
The subject property is located at 1041 Battleground Avenue, parcel #0006562 and 1049 R1 Battleground Avenue, parcel #0006657. This property is owned by the City of Greensboro.
The property is zoned LI (Light Industrial). The required Permanent Utility Easement conveyance is an area of 11,400 Sq. Ft. (.26 acre).
BUDGET IMPACT:
No budget impact is expected with the conveyance of the Permanent Utility Easement to Duke Energy.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Property Management Section of the Engineering and Inspections Department recommends the approval of this conveyance.
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to negotiate and execute an agreement with Duke Energy for the conveyance of an easement of the hereinabove described City of Greensboro property in substantial conformity herewith and to execute closing documents; and
That, the Mayor is authorized to execute any deeds necessary to effectuate the closing of this approved transaction.
