PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro received a grant award from the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality through the VW Transit Bus Program. An ordinance must be approved to establish the budget.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Greensboro was awarded $501,839 under the NCDEQ VW Transit Bus grant program. These grant funds will go towards the purchase of one (1) replacement 40 foot electric heavy duty transit bus. The grant requires a match of $281,998. This match will be a combination of In-Kind Services in the form of unused FTA funds and local transit operating funds.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding for this project will be as follows:
$501,839 (64%) State
$224,481 (29%) In-Kind Services
$ 57,517 (7%) Transit Operating Funds
$783,837
The local match will come from Transit Operations Account Number 564-4531-01.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Department of Transportation recommends and requests that City Council approve the attached ordinance establishing the budget for the agreement with North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality for the VW Transit Bus Program Grant.
