PURPOSE: City Council is requested to authorize subrecipient contracts with local non-profit agencies to carryout emergency rent and utility assistance designated for rental households that are unable to pay rent and utilities due the COVID-19 pandemic.
BACKGROUND: The Neighborhood Development Department recommends FY 2020-21 US Treasury Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) program funds be used for rent and utility assistance as reflected below:

BUDGET IMPACT: FY 2020-21 US Treasury ERA funds in the amount of $8,669,703 will be used to fund the recommended contracts.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED: Council is requested to authorize the City Manager to execute the contract documents for emergency rent and utility assistance designated for rental households that are unable to pay rent and utilities due the COVID-19 pandemic.
