PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department is requesting approval for annual design and bidding services for the Townsend Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Lab Upgrades Project. City Council approval of a contract in the amount of $380,300.00 is requested.

BACKGROUND:
Based on a recent evaluation of the Townsend WTP Lab, it has been determined that upgrades are needed in order to create a more functional work space for current water quality lab needs. These upgrades will include desk space/workstations for lab staff, efficient workflow, spatial organization and workspace. The upgrades will also support lab analysis and research for the City in the future. This contract will include the design and bidding services for the Townsend WTP Lab upgrades.

Hazen and Sawyer, PC, was selected to the Water Resources on call in November 2019. Hazen had previously completed an evaluation and preliminary design of the Townsend WTP Lab Upgrades. For this contract, project team will consist of Hazen and Sawyer, PC and SAMR, PLLC. SMAR, PLLC is a local MBE and was also involved in the evaluation and preliminary design. The anticipated utilization on this project is 27.86% of the total contract amount.

BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding in the amount of $380,300.00 is budgeted in the Water Resources Capital Fund Account #503-7030-04.5410.
