PURPOSE:
The Microsoft Enterprise Agreement is a volume licensing program that provides the flexibility to buy cloud services and licenses under one agreement. The current Enterprise Agreement with Microsoft allows the City of Greensboro to purchase volume licensing via SHI International Corp. The Enterprise Agreement consists of: (3455) Core Client Access Licenses with Software Assurance support, Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, SQL Server, Microsoft Server, and Datacenter licenses. The service agreement is currently in effect until November 30 2020.
BACKGROUND:
The Microsoft suite of software is used to conduct the business of the City. Included in the original contract is the expectation that the City will enter into an enterprise agreement, for the renewal of software licenses for as long this software solution is in use.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding for the ongoing support and maintenance fees are included in the adopted budget.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is the recommendation of the Information Technology Department that we encumber funds for the Microsoft Enterprise Agreement volume licensing fees. It is established Microsoft Solutions is the sole provider of City’s software and continuing support and maintenance is the most reasonable and efficient way to meet the objective of the organization. In light of this, we have requested and formally received an MWBE Waiver.
