PURPOSE:

City Council consideration is requested for an ordinance amending the Search and Rescue (SAR) Training Federal Grant FY2018, Homeland Security Grant in the amount of $8,022

BACKGROUND:

On September 17, 2019, City Council adopted a budget ordinance establishing funding in the amount of $45,000 for the support of the SAR Team for the period of September 1, 2018 to February 28, 2021. These funds were to provide training in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the City of Greensboro and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Division of Emergency Management. The North Carolina Department of Public Safety has de-obligated a portion of these funds from each State of North Carolina SAR Teams to purchase equipment.

The Greensboro Fire Department would like to reduce the grant award amount by $8,022 to bring the new total award to $36,978

The budget ordinance to amend the ordinance for the FY 2018 SAR Grant is attached for approval.

BUDGET IMPACT:

This item will not cost the City of Greensboro any additional funds.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

City Council is requested to approve the amended Search and Rescue (SAR) Training Federal Grant FY2018, Homeland Security Grant budget ordinance.
