PURPOSE:
Authorization is needed to extend current MOU between the City of Greensboro and One Step Further, Inc. by two months through December 31, 2020 and authorization for a second year for One Step Further, Inc to continue to oversee and administer Gate City Coalition, the Cure Violence Initiative, from January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021.

BACKGROUND:
In November of 2019, City Council authorized $500,000 to fund Gate City Coalition, the Cure Violence Initiative, through a Memorandum of Agreement between the City of Greensboro and One Step Further, Inc. and a contract with University of Illinois Chicago School of Public Health. City of Greensboro and One Step Further, Inc. executed a Memorandum of Agreement and Scope of Services for One Step Further to oversee and administer Gate City Coalition for an initial year of November 2019 through October 31, 2020 for $399,000. City of Greensboro and the University of Illinois Chicago School of Public Health entered into a one year contract for $100,000 for training and technical support for the first year of the Initiative.

The City is seeking authorization to extend the current agreement for two months through December 31, 2020 and to authorize a new MOU for calendar year 2021 for $399,000. This will allow alignment with the calendar year for the agreement as requested by Gate City Coalition.

BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding is available for the Initiative from General Fund account 101-9510-11.5413. No additional appropriations are necessary for this fiscal year.
