PURPOSE:
City Council is being requested to approve Change Order No. 2 in the amount of $162,241 for Contract Number 2019-0850 to Bar Construction, Inc. for the completion Phase II Improvements for Keeley Park Phase II for the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Greensboro.

BACKGROUND:
In 2006, the Keeley Park Master Plan was developed to provide recommendations for the development of the City's former nursery site to meet the recreational needs of residents.

In 2018, the Greensboro's Parks and Recreation Department was awarded a LWCF matching grant for the Phase II park development at Keeley Park. The $250,000 matching grant will reimburse the City of Greensboro for the project scope of work that includes: fitness equipment, four cornhole courts, open space area, bike trails (completed 2019), three shelters with picnic tables; one shelter with restrooms, additional trails, playground renovation for inclusive play, splash pad renovation with shade structure, community garden renovation with raised beds, 18 hour disc golf course (completed 2019). Other Phase II improvements will include overall site preparation, grading and 87 additional parking spaces.

In 2019 the Greensboro's Parks and Recreation Department was awarded a grant for the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Association for the purchase of an all-inclusive playground unit. This playground called "Up in the Air" will be the largest all-inclusive playground west of Raleigh and the only one owned by the City of Greensboro.
