PURPOSE:
Allocations are for workforce programs administered by the City of Greensboro's Workforce Development Department. A budget amendment needs to be approved to allow the expenditure of funds.
BACKGROUND:
1. Includes Detail Sections 1-2 in Attachment A. The NC Department of Commerce's final allocations for the FY 19-20 year were higher than the initial projections. Program funds will be increased in the amount of $2,830.
The PY 2019 WIOA Dislocated Worker and Admin funds are increased in the following amounts:
WIOA Dislocated Worker 2019 grant in the amount of $2,547
WIOA Admin 2019 grant in the amount of $283.
2. Includes Detail Section 3 in Attachment A. The NC Department of Commerce provided a telework grant for local workforce boards to purchase equipment to assist with telework related to the Covid-19 pandemic for the months of May and June 2020 only. The funds are now expired, and remaining funds must be de-obligated.
The Guilford WDB 2019 Telework Fund is reduced in the amount of $850.
3. Includes Detail Section 4 in Attachment A. The NC Department of Commerce provides Finish Line grants to local WDBs in partnership with local community colleges in order for community college students to complete training. The Guilford WDB has been granted additional funds in the amount of $125,000 effective 10/5/2020, expiring 6/30/2021.
The Guilford WDB Finish Line Fund is increased in the amount of $125,000.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The attached ordinance results in an increase of $126,980 in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Fund Budget.
