PURPOSE:
The Water Resources Department wishes to enter into a partnership with Greensboro Downtown Greenway, LLC, hereafter called GDG, to participate in the design and installation of water themed public artwork along a tributary of North Buffalo Creek at Phase IV of the Downtown Greenway. The city's contribution of $100,000 will be part of the $400,000 total project budget which included a $75,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, a $200,000 donation from the Cemela Foundation, as well as other private donors.

BACKGROUND:
The Water Resources Department's Stormwater Division is committed to promoting a culture of collaborative community involvement and environmental enhancement projects to protect property, reduce flooding, and improve water quality. The division has partnered with Greensboro Downtown Greenway LLC for water themed public artwork along Phase IV of the Downtown Greenway.

This project will involve the detailed design and construction of an innovative water themed public art project. The project will include elements of aquatic life, greenway access, and water educational elements. The completed project will enhance Phase IV of the Downtown Greenway and provide an opportunity for the general public and greenway users to learn about the importance of a healthy aquatic environment.
