PURPOSE:

Requesting a resolution for the Greensboro Police Department to accept an emergency responder vehicle from the Greensboro Police Foundation.

BACKGROUND:

The Greensboro Police Foundation wishes to donate an emergency responder vehicle to the Greensboro Police Department. It is a golf cart style vehicle which will allow for police to quickly respond to safety needs at large events and better maneuvering through crowds. It can be used to haul equipment as well as injured or ill citizens in need of assistance during events. The vehicle is electric and is valued at $25,000, which is outside of the police department’s budget capabilities.

BUDGET IMPACT:

There will not be an impact to the operating budget for acceptance of this donation.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

It is requested that City Council accept the emergency responder vehicle for use by the police department.
