PURPOSE:

The Greensboro Police Department wishes to continue its contractual relationship with the Kellin Foundation to continue their work on the Governor’s Crime Commission grant, Greensboro Child Response Initiative, awarded for FY2020-21. The contract for $116,472 is presented to Greensboro City Council in accordance with current city fiscal procedures and at the request of City Finance.

 

BACKGROUND:

The Governor’s Crime Commission (GCC) Victims' Services Committee has awarded the Greensboro Police Department a federal grant of $89,472 for the Greensboro Child Response Initiative (CRI) program. The GPD will provide contributions of $ 27,000 from its NC Drug Tax Excise funds to support the program and the total of the grant will be $116,472. The Kellin Foundation is the provider of the CRI services and the police department wishes to contract with them to continue to do so.

 

BUDGET IMPACT:

Expense reimbursement requests will be processed monthly and dispersed to the grant partner, Kellin Foundation, as allowable under the grant award conditions. The funds will be housed in 220-3504-01.

 

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

It is requested that the City Council pass the resolution allowing the Greensboro Police Department to enter into a contract with the Kellin Foundation to provide advocate services via its Child Response Initiative in support of the Governor’s Crime Commission grant, Greensboro Child Response Initiative.
