PURPOSE:
City Council approval is requested for a change order to Contract 2018-0370 for the E. Gate City Boulevard Roadway and Sidewalk Improvements Design. This change order for $37,500.00 is to provide additional project coordination and water line designs that were not included in the original contract.
BACKGROUND:
This change order is necessary to provide additional professional services to the existing roadway and sidewalk design contract for E. Gate City Boulevard. As the design progressed, it was determined new water lines would be required at three different locations along the design corridor. A portion of this change order will be used to provide professional design services to incorporate these water lines into the final design for installation during construction.
Additional costs are also being included to provide public outreach and involvement to obtain public input on the project design. The proposed public involvement meetings will include a virtual public involvement meeting as well as an in-person meeting in order to obtain public input from all possible sources.
For the original contract amount, WithersRavenel, Inc. utilized a MBE firm in the amount of $26,110.00, or 9.00% of the total contract amount. For this change order, WithersRavenel, Inc. is proposing to utilize a WBE firm in the amount of $8,000.00, or 21.3% of the change order amount.
