PURPOSE:

The purpose is to change the name of the Human Relations Department to the Department of Human Rights, in an effort to better serve the public of Greater Greensboro.

 

BACKGROUND:  

The intention of the name change is that it will eliminate confusion with other departments for those seeking services. Additionally, it will better brand the City’s efforts to provide services that address issues of discrimination.

 

BUDGET IMPACT:

There is no budget impact with this request.

 

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

Consideration of an Ordinance authorizing the Renaming of the Human Relations Department to the Department of Human Rights.
