PURPOSE:
The Sherwin-Williams Company has requested to enter into an environmentally related Global Access Agreement to continue investigating the magnitude and extent of an ongoing environmental investigation which is being conducted in general accordance with NCDEQ guidelines and regulations.
BACKGROUND:
The Sherwin-Williams Company is currently conducting an environmental investigation near Spring Garden Street. The proposed investigation will require the installation of monitoring wells within the City of Greensboro Right-of-Way (near 3201 Spring Garden Street). The surface completion will be a 2-foot square concrete pad with an 8-inch steel flush-mount cover to access the monitoring well. This work is being completed to delineate groundwater impacts identified at 3125 Spring Garden Street. Sampling of the monitoring well(s) will be conducted at least annually until no longer deemed necessary by NCDEQ, at which time the well(s) will be properly abandoned and surface will be returned to original conditions.
BUDGET IMPACT:
There is no impact to the Field Operations budget since this can be viewed as part of the existing environmental support duties and responsibilities.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is recommended by the Field Operations Department that City Council authorize the acceptance of the environmentally related Global Access Agreement between The Sherwin-Williams Company and the City of Greensboro.
