PURPOSE:

The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department is requesting to enter into a professional services contract with Critek Engineering Group, PC to provide engineering design services for the Hammel Road Waterline Replacement Project.

BACKGROUND:

The purpose of the project is to design a waterline relocation for a section of existing 12” cast iron waterline that was damaged from recent rain events. A new 12” ductile iron waterline will be extended from Briarcliff Rd. then down Hammel Rd. to Latham Rd. to realign the waterline away from the creek and to also replace another older 6” cast iron waterline currently in Hammel Rd.

Critek Engineering Group, PC, current on-call consultant, was selected due to their experience with similar water resources design projects.  The project team will consist of CriTek Engineering Group, PC, and Kennerly Engineering. Kennerly Engineering is a local WBE and be responsible for preparing all erosion control drawings and specifications for the project. Their utilization is 5 % of the contract amount.

BUDGET IMPACT:

Funding is budgeted in Water Resources Capital Improvements Fund account 503-7029-01.5410 in the amount of $157,530.  A budget adjustment is needed to use this account.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

The Water Resources Department recommends that City Council adopt a resolution authorizing the approval of a professional services contract with Critek Engineering Group, PC in the amount of $157,530.00 and the associated budget adjustment.
