PURPOSE:
ARCADIS G&M of NC, Inc. is being requested to provide Construction Administration for the construction of the Birch Creek Sewer Extension Phase 1. City Council approval of a contract in the amount of $321,400 is requested.
BACKGROUND:
The Birch Creek Sewer Extension Phase 1 will allow for the removal of the existing Birch Creek Lift Station which is expected to reach capacity in the next 5 to 10 years. The outfall will also allow the City to serve a large commercial/industrial parcel at the intersection of Highway 70 and Birch Creek Road. This project includes the installation of approximately 17,350 linear feet of sanitary sewer line of various sizes. This outfall must be available by May 31, 2022.
ARCADIS G&M of NC, Inc. a Water Resources on-call consultant was selected due to their involvement with the sewer outfall design. The CA project team will consist of Arcadis and Critek Engineering Group. Critek, a NCDOA, NCDOT HUB and a local MBE from Guilford County, will provide part time construction administration services for the project. Their utilization is 15.56% of the contract amount.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding is budgeted in Water Resources Capital Improvements Fund account 503-7029-02.6017 A20051 in the amount of $321,400.00. A budget adjustment is necessary to use this account.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Water Resources Department recommends City Council approve the professional services contract with ARCADIS G&M of NC, Inc. in the amount of $321,400 and associated budget adjustment.
