PURPOSE:
The Field Operations Department is responsible for providing a means to transfer and transport the City generated solid waste to approved disposal facility. In order to safely conduct this task, the City uses two pit scales at the transfer station. Under this RFP, the Proposers are to inspect the existing scales, evaluate the condition of the scales and all components, and propose a solution to lengthen the life of the scales and the load cells. This shall include, at minimum, replacing the current electronic load cells with hydraulic load cells, repairing/replacing any existing damaged checking, adding additional checking, relocating the truck scale data management system, updating the truck scale data management system, replacing the digital weight displays, repairing/replacing any damaged steel components, and providing a 3-year warranty and O&M services.
The contract value is greater than $100,000, which requires City Council approval. The Department plans to award the contract to Leak and Associates, Inc. to complete the installation before the end of calendar year 2020.
BACKGROUND:
The existing Transfer Station was constructed in 2005. The Transfer Station has two pit scales located directly below the Transfer Station tipping floor. Both scales are Fairbanks - Talon 6010 Series installed in 2005. The scales are used to weigh trucks as they are loaded with waste dropped from the above tipping floor.
