PURPOSE:
City Council is requested to approve the acceptance of a special allocation of Emergency Solutions Grant Coronavirus (ESG-CV) funds awarded to the City of Greensboro from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) authorized under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) and to authorize the City Manager to execute grant documents.

BACKGROUND:
HUD has awarded the City of Greensboro a special allocation of Emergency Solutions Grant funds, in the amount of $675,621, to be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus (COVID-19) among individuals and families who are homeless or receiving homelessness assistance; and to support additional homeless assistance and homelessness prevention activities to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19. This allocation was authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), Public Law 116-136, which was signed by President Trump on March 27, 2020, to respond to the growing effects of this historic public health crisis.

The budget ordinance to appropriate fund accounts for the Emergency Solutions Grant Coronavirus (ESG-CV) is attached for approval.
