PURPOSE:
City Council is requested to approve the acceptance of a special allocation of Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) funds awarded to the City of Greensboro from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) authorized under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) and to authorize the City Manager to execute grant documents.

BACKGROUND:
HUD has awarded the City of Greensboro a special allocation of Community Development Block Grant funds, in the amount of $1,329,635, to be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). This allocation was authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), Public Law 116-136, which was signed by President Trump on March 27, 2020, to respond to the growing effects of this historic public health care crisis.

The budget ordinance to appropriate fund accounts for the Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) is attached for approval.
