PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department wishes to enter into a three-year contract with Tyron Tyson d.b.a. Quality Lawn Care and Pressure Washing to provide lawn mowing services to keep the plant site presentable and safe.
BACKGROUND:
Water Resources requests a three-year landscaping contract starting July 1, 2020. The contract includes the mowing and general landscaping maintenance of 30 sites including water towers, pump stations, reservoirs and water plants. The work includes mowing, tree trimming, leaf removal, pesticide application, weed-eating, aerating, fertilizer application, seeding, and bed mulching. A mowing service is needed to maintain the grounds and keep the sites presentable and safe while enabling plant staff to focus on operating and maintaining the plant.
In February 19, 2020, a Request for Bid (RFB) was issued. Tyron Tyson d.b.a. Quality Lawn Care and Pressure Washing, a local MBE firm, was the lowest responsive, responsible bidder.
BUDGET IMPACT:
This contract in the amount of $234,000 is funded in Water Resources Enterprise Fund account 501-7023-01.5422. The budgeted amount for each fiscal year is as follows: $78,000 in FY20-21, $78,000 in FY21-22 and $78,000 in FY22-23.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Water Resources Department recommends and requests that City Council approve the contract with Tyron Tyson d.b.a. Quality Lawn Care and Pressure Washing for Mowing Services at various Water Supply facilities contract in the amount of $234,000.
