PURPOSE:
Michael Baker Engineering, Inc. was selected to provide construction inspection for the Market Street at Guilford College Road Intersection Improvement Project. City Council approval of the amendment to the professional services contract with Michael Baker Engineering, Inc., in the amount of $257,526.76, is requested.
BACKGROUND:
This project includes roadway widening, asphalt overlay, concrete sidewalks, driveways, curb cuts, median islands, retaining walls, and associated erosion control items.
Due to the extended period of time needed to complete the construction, it has been determined that the original amount needs to be increased accordingly. The original contract amount was $602,553.60. This contract amendment, for $257,526.76, will make the new total amount $860,080.36. As a federally funded project, the MWBE program plan is not applicable.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding for this contract will come from 2008 bond fund account 471-4502-23.6014 A17135. Transportation staff will seek additional grant funds to offset the bond funds required for the project.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Engineering & Inspections and Transportation Departments recommend and request authorizing the award of the contract amendment, in the amount of $257,526.76, for the Market Street at Guilford College Road Intersection Improvement Project to Michael Baker Engineering, Inc.
