PURPOSE:
AECOM Technical Services of NC was selected to provide design services for the East / West Wendover Avenue Sidewalk EB-5883. City Council approval of the amendment to the professional services contract with AECOM Technical Services of NC, in the amount of $169,015.97, is requested.

BACKGROUND:
This work consists of design services for shifting the lanes on the North Buffalo Creek Bridge to accommodate barrier separated sidewalk and guardrail treatments; shifting the lanes on the Elm Street Bridge to accommodate barrier separated sidewalk and guardrail treatments along with incorporating safety fencing; adding guardrail treatments and attachments and widening berm and fill slopes for the US Highway 29 Bridge along with additional survey, geotechnical investigations / recommendations, utility locations, drainage adjustments and necessary permitting for impacts; and replacing / adjusting of any ADA non-compliant curb ramps along with additional survey.

The additional costs are due to the addition of design services that have become apparent and required as the design firm proceeded with their preliminary work. The original contract amount was $252,904.48. This contract amendment for $169,015.97 will make the new total amount $421,920.45. As a federally funded project, the MWBE program plan is not applicable.
