PURPOSE:
CDM Smith, Inc. is being requested to provide assistance with the City's gravity sewer rehabilitation program that helps to eliminate infiltration and inflow into the sanitary sewer collection system and rehabilitate and repair aging infrastructure. City Council approval of a contract in the amount of $425,000 is requested.

BACKGROUND:
The Engineering Division works to prioritize and maintain infrastructure assets in the City through sanitary sewer evaluation studies (SSES) that assess existing sewer conditions and applying engineering principles to the rehabilitation design. CDM Smith, Inc. will work to review and analyze assessment data, such as flow monitoring data, smoke testing data, and video inspection data to determine areas within the City that are in need of rehabilitation to help preserve infrastructure for future growth opportunities, capacity allocations and structural integrity. The assessment areas will include various areas around the City that are experiencing high infiltration and inflow, which reduces capacity for growth and cost effectiveness for treatment. CDM Smith, Inc. will provide support to City staff to prioritize and finalize rehabilitation decisions. The rehabilitation recommendations will determine the specialized trenchless technologies that are cost effective and applicable considering a variety of non-cost factors. This contract helps to support data driven decisions about renewal and replacement of infrastructure assets.
