PURPOSE:
City Council is being requested to approve Change Order No.1 in the amount of $103,000 for Contract Number 2019-030 to W.C. Construction Company, LLC for the completion of the shared maintenance building for Barber Park and Gateway Gardens for the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Greensboro.

BACKGROUND:
The original Barber Park Master Plan was completed in 2003. In a subsequent update, the plan recommended the development of a new community event center/tribute to women and a new shared maintenance building to support operations of facilities and amenities within the Innovation District. The new event center and Ruth Wicker Tribute to Women was completed in January 2019. The maintenance building portion of the project was initially bid in December 2015, but was delayed due to funding constraints. Funding for the completion of the building was allocated in the 2016 voter approved bonds.

City Council approved Contract #2019-030 in the amount of $2,270,000 on May 21, 2019 for award to W.C. Construction, LLC. The contractor met the MWBE established goals of MBE 8.00% and WBE 7.00% at the time of award.

As part of the project bid package, there were five alternates included in the original bid package from W.C. Construction, LLC. At the time of the contract approval, none of the alternates were accepted.
