PURPOSE:
A budget ordinance needs to be approved to amend the budget for the amended agreement with NCDOT for U-5532 E: General Sidewalk Improvements Project.
BACKGROUND:
Project U-5532E will construct sidewalks on 1) Big Tree Way from Wendover Avenue to Elk Hound Trail; 2) Bridford Parkway/Hornaday Road from Wendover Avenue to west of Nicholas Road; 3) Hewitt Street from Norwalk Street to Merritt Drive; and 4) Shelby Drive from Big Tree Way to Edith Lane.
The construction phase of U-5532 E has an existing commitment of federal funds allocated by the Transportation Advisory Committee on an 80% federal - 20% local match basis. At this time NCDOT has agreed to contribute additional funding based on the results of the Prioritization 5.0 funding competition to cover costs associated with the Bridford Parkway / Hornaday Road project. This Agreement defines the cost, and construction responsibilities of the City and the NCDOT, including the terms to which the City must comply in order to receive reimbursements.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding for the amended agreement will be as follows:
$512,400 Federal Funds (80%)
$128,100 Local Funds (20%)
$640,500
Local matching funds will come from 2008 bond fund account 471-4502-15.6401. A budget adjustment is required to move funds to the appropriate account.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Transportation Department recommends and requests approval of the attached ordinance amending the budget for U-5532 E: General Sidewalk Improvements Project.
