PURPOSE:
The bids for Contract 2017-086 for the Sandy Ridge Road Sewer Outfall project have been received. In order for the work to proceed on this contract, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to Ace/Avant Concrete Construction Company, Inc. for $677,442.30.
BACKGROUND:
This work consists of installation for approximately of 5,124 linear feet of 8-inch sanitary sewer line, manholes, and other appurtenances. The bids were opened on December 17, 2019 and the apparent lowest, responsible bidder is Ace/Avant Concrete Construction Company, Inc. (Archdale, NC) with a bid of $677,442.30.
The M/WBE utilization goal was MBE 4% and WBE 4%.
The contractor’s commitment is MBE 4.4% and WBE 4.6%.

BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $677,442.30 for this construction contract are budgeted in the Water Resources Capital Improvement Fund account 503-7029-02.6017 A20051.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is recommended by the Departments of Engineering & Inspections and Water Resources that City Council approve the bid and award Contract 2017-086 for the Sandy Ridge Road Sewer Outfall Project to Ace/Avant Concrete Construction Company, Inc. for the bid amount of $677,442.30.
