PURPOSE:

Councilmember Wells has requested a presentation to provide the meaning and significance of the upcoming ground breaking for the North Carolina Freedom Park in Raleigh that was designed by the firm of the late Phil Freelon, who was the architect of the Smithsonian African American Museum in Washington.  Upon completion, the park will belong to the people of North Carolina. It will be located across the street from the state legislature.
