PURPOSE:
A City Council resolution is requested to authorize City staff to add a total sum of $2,605,000 in non-taxpayer funded revenues to the Owner's Allowance Line Item of the City's contract with Barnhill Contracting Company to construct Phase 2 of the Steven B. Tanger Performing Arts Center, referenced in Council Resolution 347-17, to offset the expanded Scope of Services and the additional construction related costs that the City has incurred over the life of the project.
BACKGROUND:
On December 19, 2017, the City Council adopted a Resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into contract with Barnhill Contracting Company ("Barnhill") to construct Phase 2 of the Steven B. Tanger Performing Arts Center ("STPAC") for an amount not to exceed $57,900,000. The bid specifications for the STPAC included additional City requested alternate scopes of work ("Add-Alternates") that could be added to the STPAC project if additional funding ever became available. As part of its bid, Barnhill, and the other bidders, included prices for these Add-Alternates in its bid price.
