PURPOSE:
City Council approval is requested to convey a utility easement to Duke Energy for the access to the White Street Landfill to provide electrical service for the Solar Park.
BACKGROUND:
On July 21, 2015, the City approved a contract with Petra Engineering to install a Solar Farm at the White Street Landfill to produce electricity. The electricity is to be purchased by Duke Energy. As part of the solar farm installation, a utility easement needs to be granted to Duke Energy for the access to provide electrical service. Since the easement is an encroachment on City property, City Council approval is required.
BUDGET IMPACT:
No funds are required and there is no budget impact.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Field Operations and Engineering & Inspections Departments recommend that City Council approve the conveyance of the utility easement to Duke Energy for access to the White Street Landfill to provide electrical service to the Solar Park.
