PURPOSE:

To amend the Fire Stations Bond Fund to fund bids awarded on December 17, 2019 for the replacement of Fire Stations 7 and 56. 

 

BACKGROUND:

On May 21, 2019, City Council authorized establishment of the Fire Stations Bond Fund (Series 2019) for the purpose of funding the replacement of Fire Stations 7 and 56, new fire training facilities and emergency equipment. 

 

BUDGET IMPACT:

Funding for the replacement of these fire stations of $14,018,825 will come from a Guilford County contribution of $2,316,491 (based on building square footage occupied by Guilford County EMS) and bonds/bond premiums of $11,702,334 issued in FY19-20.

 

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

The Fire Department requests City Council approval of the attached budget ordinance amending the Fire Stations Bond Fund (Series 2019) Capital Project Budget in the amount of $14,018,825.
