PURPOSE:
A resolution needs to be approved to authorize the amended agreement with NCDOT reducing the budget and scope for U-5532 K: North Elm Street Sidewalk Improvements.
BACKGROUND:
Revised Project U-5533 K will construct sidewalks and accessible curb ramps on North Elm Street from Cone Boulevard to Cornwallis Drive. This purpose of this amended agreement is to expedite project delivery of this priority sidewalk section. The amended agreement removes a section of sidewalk from Cornwallis Drive to existing sidewalks near Irving Park Court because this section requires additional time to complete design and right-of-way. The remaining section will be included in a future municipal agreement.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding for this project will be reduced as follows:
Original Agreement
$1,008,000 (80%) Federal Funds
$252,000 (20%) 2008 Bond Funds
$1,260,000
Amended Agreement
$343,600 (80%) Federal Funds
$85,900 (20%) 2008 Bond Funds
$429,500
Federal Funding will decrease by $664,400 and local funding will decrease by $166,100 for a total reduction of $830,500.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Transportation Department recommends and requests approval of the attached resolution authorizing the amended agreement with NCDOT reducing the scope and budget for U-5532 K: North Elm Street Sidewalk Improvements.
