PURPOSE:
City Council is requested to approve the acceptance of a $1 million grant award from the State of North Carolina for tornado recovery housing activities and to authorize the City Manager to execute grant documents.
BACKGROUND:
The State of North Carolina has awarded the City of Greensboro $1 million for tornado recovery housing activities in the areas impacted by the April 15, 2018 storm event. Funds may be used for state approved activities including tornado related property repair, acquisition, demolition, reconstruction, new construction or other approved activities. Up to $100,000 may be used for up front planning or administration expenses.
The budget ordinance to set up the fund accounts for the Disaster Recovery Act Grant is attached for approval.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
City Council is requested to approve the acceptance of a $1 million grant award from the State of North Carolina for tornado recovery housing activities and to authorize the City Manager to execute grant documents. City Council is also requested to approve the grant budget ordinance for the Disaster Recovery Act Grant.
