PURPOSE:
A resolution needs to be approved to authorize a municipal agreement with NCDOT for right-of-way and construction funding for EB-5985: Cone Boulevard Sidewalk Improvements.
BACKGROUND:
Project EB-5985 will construct sidewalks and accessible curb ramps on Cone Boulevard from Lafayette Street to O’Henry Boulevard and on the west side of North Elm Street from Cone Boulevard north to exiting. This project was selected for funding through NCDOT’s Prioritization Process for the 2020-2029 State Transportation Improvement Program.
This agreement provides for NCDOT to reimburse the City with federal funds for up to 80% right-of-way / utilities relocation and construction costs.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding for the project will be as follows:
$559,000 (80%) Federal Funds
$139,750 (20%) Local Matching Funds
$698,750
Local matching funds will come from the 2008 bond fund account 471-4502-15.6401. A budget adjustment is required to move funds to the appropriate account.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Transportation Department recommends and requests approval of the attached resolution authorizing a municipal agreement with NCDOT for right-of-way and construction funding for EB-5985: Cone Boulevard Sidewalk Improvements.
