PURPOSE:
City Council is requested to approve the execution of a lease agreement / contract addendum to the existing contract between Mobile Communications and Greensboro Coliseum / Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts (Tanger Center) to provide 2-way Hytera hand held radios and a custom designed antenna system for the Tanger Center. These radios and antennas must be fully compatible with the radios and antennas that are currently used by the staff at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. As part of this agreement Mobile Communications will provide the following:
* Quality technical support services to the radio network and supporting systems
* 80 additional radios and necessary radio equipment needed
* Software or hardware upgrades when available
* A custom designed antennas system that best suites the Tanger Center
BACKGROUND:
Mobile Communications has had an ongoing relationship with the Greensboro Coliseum by providing over 300 2-way Hytera radios and radio equipment to support a multi-building facility which hosts a broad range of events including sports, concerts, consumer shows, trade shows, conventions, family shows, meetings, receptions, and theatrical plays.
It is imperative that we continue with the existing radio system at the Greensboro Coliseum in order to be able to communicate with staff at the Tanger Center.
BUDGET IMPACT:
This contract will not a have a negative impact to the annual budget because hand held radios were budgeted as part of the annual maintenance / equipment budget
