PURPOSE:
The Greensboro Police Department wishes to contract with Axon Enterprises, Inc. for their Taser 60 Unlimited Program. The program provides the department with 330 new X26P Taser CEWs that are warrantied for the length of the 5 year contract as well as providing the department with unlimited duty cartridges. City Council approval is requested to enter into the contract.
BACKGROUND:
The Greensboro Police Department first purchased Tasers October, 2007. Those X26 models no longer have repair parts available and are beyond the desired 5 year service life. While the department has been replacing the X26 with X26P units incrementally, the department would benefit by the Taser 60 Unlimited Program since the department would receive 330 warrantied X26P units at once and the department would receive unlimited duty cartridges.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The 5 year contract would be funded with the department’s budget funds and encumbered through account 101350205. A budget adjustment is necessary to fully fund the account.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is requested that City Council approve this contract with Axon Enterprises, Inc in the amount of $824,456.72 for the Taser 60 Unlimited Program.
