PURPOSE:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation recently approved a state match funding request in the amount of $30,182 to reimburse the City for eligible expenses associated with vehicle purchases from the 2018 FTA Section 5339 Grant. A resolution must be approved to accept these funds.

BACKGROUND:
At the October 16, 2018 meeting, the Greensboro City Council approved a budget ordinance establishing FY 2018 FTA Section 5339 Bus and Bus Facilities Grant funding in the amount of $660,287. These funds were used to replace six (6) paratransit vehicles that have exceeded FTA's useful life standards, both in years of service and mileage, and to purchase three (3) additional paratransit vehicles. The useful life standards are 5 years or 200,000 miles for a paratransit bus.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has approved a state funding match request in the amount of $30,182 (5%) for this purchase. Previously, the full 15% required local match was coming from Transit bond funds. This state matching funding only applies to the replacement vehicles as expansion vehicles are ineligible for matching funds.

BUDGET IMPACT:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation has contributed $30,182 towards the purchase of the six (6) replacement paratransit buses, thereby reducing the City's required local match by a like amount.

The original funding is as follows:
$561,244 (85%) Federal
$ 99,043 (15%) Local
$660,287

The revised funding would be as follows:
$561,244 (85%) Federal
