PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (through the City) received State Transportation Improvement (STI) funds from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) in the amount of $270,000 to support the J. Douglas Galyon Depot Renovation project. A resolution must be adopted to authorize the City Manager to execute this agreement.

BACKGROUND:
The City of Greensboro successfully received federal funding in the amount of $960,000 through the 2016 FTA Section 5339b Bus and Bus Facilities Discretionary Grant program. These funds will be used for renovation of the GTA Ticketing, Call Center, and Waiting areas of the J. Douglas Galyon Depot. Specific improvements include expansion and relocation of the Operator's Lounge, staff offices, and customer waiting area and restroom facilities. A new 'concierge style' ticket counter and call center and security station will be centrally located to enhance convenience and visibility. At their October 17, 2017 meeting, the Greensboro City Council adopted the budget ordinance for this funding.

The City recently secured State Transportation Improvement (STI) funds from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) in the amount of $270,000 to support this project.
